'''Summary:''' Fundamental unit of data, stored as a self-describing JSON document within a container.

== Overview ==
An item is the fundamental unit of data in Azure Cosmos DB for NoSQL, stored as a self-describing JSON document within a container. Each item must have a unique combination of id and partition key value within its logical partition. Items can vary in schema/shape within the same container, enabling flexible, schema-agnostic modeling.
